ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Nagaland Centre organized sensitization program on Agri-business incubation (ABI)

 

On 24th November 2018, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Nagaland Centre organized ‘sensitization programme for enhancing farm income and livelihood security in Nagaland’ with special emphasis on development of agri-entrepreneurship in Nagaland. Shri P.B. Acharya, Governor of Nagaland graced the occasion as the chief guest and inaugurated the exhibition unit cum sale counter, mushroom spawn production unit and ornamental fish breeding and rearing unit. The chief guest motivated the farmers and the entrepreneurs to be more pro-active and to be self sufficient in all aspects. He also requested agri and allied departments and all the agricultural universities to motivate and mould interested and promising entrepreneurs. He also called for bringing out at least five entrepreneurs from each district in various sectors and encouraged the graduates to take up such venture. During the technical session on Agri entrepreneurship Development in Nagaland, Dr. G Kadrivel, Principal Scientist (PI- Agri Business Incubation ICAR Umiam) explained in details about agri-business incubation, its scopes and objectives. Dr. S. Ruth Assumi, Scientist-Horticulture delivered a lecture on processing of locally available fruits and vegetables as a tool for development of entrepreneurship. Mrs. Nilufar Sheikh from NID-Guwahati delievered a lecture on product design, packaging and labeling. Mr. Amitava Mukerjee, Project Executive (ABI) also delivered a lecture on entrepreneurship development. ABI membership forms were issued to selected entrepreneurs to become a member of ABI. Altogether,111 nos of farmers and entrepreneurs attended the program.
